my favorite films of the decade (part one)

i made this list for elsewhere and it'd be silly not to validate my time ever-so-slightly by reposting it here. the first four posts will be my eleventh through fiftieth favorite films (ten in each post) alphabetically, the last will be my top ten, also alphabetically. if you have a sure single favorite film of the decade, that sucks for you, you did not see enough movies.

Adaptation through Dirty Pretty Things, YouTube clipped all to death, after the jump.

Spike Jonze's ADAPTATION (2002)

David Gordon Green's ALL THE REAL GIRLS (2003)

Denys Arcand's THE BARBARIAN INVASIONS (2003)
(sorry couldn't find a subtitled clip from the movie and the American trailer is horrid)

Guillermo Del Toro's BLADE II (2002)

Paul Greengrass' BLOODY SUNDAY (2002)

Alfonso Cuaron's CHILDREN OF MEN (2006)

Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT (2008)

Neil Marshall's THE DESCENT (2005)

Guillermo Del Toro's THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE (2001)

Stephen Frears' DIRTY PRETTY THINGS (2002)

Have you seen THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE yet? I haven't, but from what I've read you should be cautious about finishing this list unless you have. But seriously, SLITHER is the best new horror film I saw last decade. Hope it makes the list. Talk to you soon.

i was lucky enough to see Human Centipede at a screening with the director in September; it is vile and awesome, but not one of the fifty best. Slither, on the other hand, is very much on the list.
